This is a 6 week course (meeting once a week) which introduces and core Buddhist doctrines. During this course, students will explore Buddhist explanations of life, the world and human potential for freedom. In addition to attending the weekly classes, students will complete select readings. This course will be taught by Bhante Pemaratana and will be offered both in-person and online.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
· Demonstrate basic knowledge of key concepts and texts of early Buddhism.
· Describe how Buddhism explains the conditions of human life.
1. The Four Noble Truths
2. Dependent Origination
3. The Doctrine of Kamma
4. Personal Identity and Non-Self
Time and Venue:
Five Fridays from 6:30 pm to 8: 00 pm at Pittsburgh Buddhist Center and via Zoom

Participants who attend all 6 classes will receive a certificate from the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center. Partial enrollment is also an option.
