2023 Sri Lankan New Year Celebration on April 16th . Pittsburgh Buddhist Center invites all of you to join in this traditional celebration. Please signup for your participation.

Sri Lankan New Year Celebration
& Blessing Service

We enter a new solar cycle in April, when the sun (earth) moves from Pisces to Aries in its journey across the zodiac. This marks the celebration of the Sri Lankan New Year—a joyful time to welcome spring and renew ourselves by strengthening our connection with nature and one another.
You and your children are warmly invited to join this traditional celebration. The event will include sharing delicious Sri Lankan foods, a meaningful exchange of betel leaves as a gesture of forgiveness, blessing chants by monks, the anointing of herbal oils, and fun games for both children and adults.
We look forward to celebrating together!

11: 00: Offerings to the Buddha
11: 30: Lighting of the Traditional oil lamp and Dana for Monks
12: 00: Lunch with Traditional Sri Lankan food
01: 30: Asking Forgiveness from Parents and Family members by exchanging betel leaves
02: 00: Blessing Service for New Year
02: 30: Anointing Sanctified oil blessed by the monks for good health
03: 00: Games for Children and Adults
