Joint Vesak Ceremony in Pittsburgh

In celebration of the Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana of the Buddha, local Buddhist organizations from various traditions in Pittsburgh will hold a Joint Vesak Ceremony on

Sunday, May 18
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

at

Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church
416 W. North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

This year’s theme is “Lighting the Noble Path.” It is a wonderful opportunity to come together in fellowship, learn from one another, and be inspired by shared reflections on the Noble Eightfold Path.

Activities will include:

  • Bathing the Baby Buddha
  • Chanting and meditation
  • Singing devotional songs
  • Children’s activity
  • Reflections from local Buddhist groups on walking the Noble Eightfold Path

Following the ceremony, we will hold a procession to the Allegheny River to release blessed water as a symbolic offering for world peace. Each participant will have the chance to pour a ladle of blessed water into the river.

Light refreshments will be provided at the riverside.

All are warmly welcome. Please feel free to attend with your family and friends.
